Culture Of Excellence: Asking Questions
15 March 2011, 11:17 AM
The real question is, "Am I asking the right questions?" Two things happened in Nala this year, I was challenged by 10 questions on leadership, when reading a book, and then I attended the I can Foundation Leadership Summit and John Maxwell asked 10 questions to us in the day.
Are you asking the right questions?
Leaders are worn down and worn out by having all accountability delegated upwards. They are held accountable for everything while the work force shout and claim their rights?
John Maxwell said in a tongue in cheek fashion, Leadership sucks, and everybody laughed, but deep down in me and many others, I am sure, something resonated, yea, Leadership SUCKS, Big Time?
Why? It is time to ask questions in stead of chasing answers or becoming Supermen that always have all the answers. Your answer's quality is determined by the quality of the question.
So come on, let us move on to answering the right questions for a change and achieving some tangible and visibly superior results for a change.
LET US CHANGE!
Nala Business Consulting is an Organisational Development Company that empowers organisations in a culture of excellence. In 2011 we ask the right questions so that you will get the right answers. Do you know what questions you need to ask to break lethargy, demotivation and low performance down in your organisation and to empower your team? Do you attract high performers and do they stay with you? Are you still using Maslow and Herzberg to try and motivate? How well does that work for you? Research conducted by Nala can predict that your answer is not very well! How resilient are your workforce? How do you and your people cope with adversity? Is your leadership paradigm freeing you up to soar, or are you eagles enrolled in duck school? Are your eagles enrolled in eagle school? (With recognition to Dr John Maxwell for challenging us with this question). Are your managers disheartened and demotivated because the weight of leadership and accountability has worn them down. It is time to understand that if you do not like your results, you need to change the input. If you continue to do what you always did, you will continue to get what you always got. It is time to change? Are you soaring with the eagles. When was the last time you did anything for the first time? www.nalabusiness.co.ca contact: corriemulder@nalabusiness.co.za 083 655 4168
2011 The Year of Excellence
05 March 2011, 10:46 AM
2011 has dawned on the back of three years in which many companies closed their doors and others exhausted their reserves.
It came with the promise of a respite and potential for growth.
One of my favourite quotes over the years, has always been, "if you do what you always did, you get what you always got"
This is true and it will never change, so what lessons have been learnt from the last three years, and how are we to apply them.
For Nala we are digging deeper than ever before and we are striving toward "a more excellent way"
There are serious questiuons to be asked and answered:
Are the leadership paradigms holding true, or are leaders under tremendous inhuman pressure to make companies work in the absence of any true commitment at other levels in companies?
Are our expectations of leaders valid, and possible or does it place impossible burdens on leaders?
Is leadership truly the way to the promised land, is there in fact a promised land, a new nirvana to be achieved and reached?
The More excellent way series promise to put a dent into the sacred cows and holy rituals of an unworkable and unethical leadership and motivation mantra, that requires a paradigm shift, to truly break the back of the unhappy workplace.
May 2011 release you from the guru's and ten easy secrets and lead you on a path of discovery toward, a truly more excellent way.
